Tips on Selecting a Contractor

HOW SHOULD I SELECT A BUILDER?

The trend toward a more complete and fully functional “Outdoor Living Environment” is evident now more than anytime in the history of the swimming pool industry. For many, the “Outdoor Living Environment” often includes much more than a swimming pool. Water features such as spas, fountains and ponds are typically included in the overall concept. Along with these water features, other structures and hardscape surfaces, as well as landscape and lighting, are playing important roles in the overall “Outdoor Living Environment”. Over the past several years, the level of complexity for these projects has evolved considerably – resulting in greater challenges for client and builder alike.

A well-prepared client who has invested time and effort on the front end – “Selecting the Right Builder” – greatly improves their chances of having a successful project. Finding the most qualified builder to design and construct your project can mean the difference in creating a positive, rewarding customer / builder experience and something much less.

Although criteria may vary from customer to customer, some very fundamental skill sets and values are common in all successful customer / builder relationships. On the surface, criteria for “Selecting the Right Builder” might be the company’s time in business, their proven track record on similar projects, their financial stability and availability of resources to complete the production of your project in the most timely, efficient manner possible.

Poolscapes is proud of our management, design / sales, and construction principals. We invite you to give thought to what is important to you in “Selecting the Right Builder” and how the criteria listed below might apply.

MANAGEMENT
  • Extremely disciplined
  • Seasoned management team with over 30 years experience.
  • Emphasis on scheduling and efficiencies.
  • Focused on larger, more complete projects where design, production and project management strengths are best suited
  • Experienced with both average size projects as well as larger, more complex projects where design, construction and project management strength are best demonstrated
  • Major emphasis on consistently producing high-quality projects while providing service excellence
  • A reputation for creative design, superior construction and a very high level of integrity.
DESIGNER / SALES / PROJECT COORDINATOR'S ROLE
  • Experienced in structural, hydraulics, all related construction methodologies including concrete and masonry
  • Designers remain involved throughout the project – serving as your Project Coordinator, working closely with you and our construction team.
  • Deliver a superior level of timely and accurate communication
  • Has readily available resources for your construction needs
  • Designers simultaneously consider the buyers vision, water shape and landscape concept, construction limitations or challenges and the dynamics of the construction sequences (a critical role often overlooked)
  • Attention to detail activities in the field – when all other factors appear comparable, a superior designer means the difference between consistently good experiences / successful projects and something less than you deserve.
CONSTRUCTION:
  • A full time in-house Construction Supervisor trained in structural, hydraulic and technology issues.
  • A full time in-house Construction Scheduler whose sole responsibility is to manage the resources needed to keep projects progressing timely and efficiently.
  • Long-term relationships with competent and responsible subcontractors and skilled craftsmen. Some of these relationships have been developed and maintained for over twenty-five years. They know our philosophy and expectations and are committed to providing quality workmanship that meets our high standards.
  • Systems based approach towards construction is superior to competition. Once again, the conservative approach of the company combined with the emphasis on construction efficiency, quality controls and a team approach to the project lends itself to consistently higher quality and greater attention to detail.
